Dr Graziana Scigliuolo presented “Advances in the treatment of sickle cell disease ”.
The third Forum of CSM was organized at « Lycee Albert 1er » in Monaco.
This event allowed to share the most relevant discoveries of CSM research teams. An updates of the ongoing studies and achievements from different CSM groups were presented.
Dr Scigliuolo presented the results of the latest studies of Monacord group on Sickle Cell Disease and made a brief overview of the innovative treatments currently available for this genetic disease.
In order to seal the scientific collaboration agreement between the Scientific center of Monaco (CSM) and the “Bambino Gesù” Hospital (Rome, Italy) an international congress was held in the Vatican from September 26-28, 2019 under the Scientific Presidency of Prof. Locatelli and Prof. Gluckman. The congress brought together high-level international scientific speakers, which attracted a significant number of participants.
Prof Gluckman and her team, represented by Drs Barbara Cappelli Lauro and Graziana Scigliuolo, shared the results of studies on sickle cell disease, including the latest advances in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
Prof. Eliane Gluckman organized an international congress to review the use of umbilical cord blood for the treatment of malignant and non-malignant hematological diseases with renowned scientists in this field.
The topics covered during the congress were:
1. Main current studies on umbilical cord blood worldwide
2. Relevant clinical issues and future studies on cord blood stem cells
3. New cell therapies using cord blood stem cells
Dr Barbara Cappelli presented “Innovative therapies for genetic and immunological diseases”.
The second Forum of CSM was organized at Auditorium Ranieri III in Monaco. This event included the most relevant discoveries of CSM research teams. An updates of the ongoing studies and achievements from different CSM groups were presented. Dr Cappelli has presented the latest studies of Monacord group on Sickle cell disease.
Since 2012, the “Cordons de Vie” Association aims to financially support scientific researchers working on Umbilical Cord Stem Cell Transplantation.
On October 14 2016, the results of the projects financed by the association have been presented.
An update on the latest discoveries on stem cell transplantation, umbilical cord stem cells, genetic hematological diseases such as Sickle Cell Disease and the use of new innovative treatments have been addressed.
